Rita House

New Build.

Designing the Rita Court Project for a young family of five was an exciting and rewarding experience, especially given the urgent nature of their needs. The family's vision was clear: they wanted a home filled with natural light, open living spaces, and separate sleeping quarters for the children. Their brief included four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a rumpus room, a study nook, a guest restroom, and a spacious garage.

We responded with a design that emphasized bright, open living areas that seamlessly flowed into the outdoors. We designed the living area to face north, optimizing natural light and utilizing passive solar orientation. This allowed us to capture the winter sun throughout the day while shielding the interior from the harsh summer sun during the warmer months. The highlighted communal living and dining space was designed to be the heart of the home, celebrating family time and providing an inviting area for entertaining guests. The children's sleeping quarters were thoughtfully planned and situated at the rear of the residence, offering them their own dedicated living spaces. Meanwhile, a serene and spacious master suite for the parents is positioned at the front of the property.

In selecting materials, we prioritised solid forms and introduced beautiful recycled fence palings into the feature fireplace and kitchen island bench to soften and bring warmth to the clean lines and light palette. The 4.4-meter feature ceilings in the living quarters enhanced the open space the family desired, allowing abundant natural light to flood in. This design minimizes the need for artificial lighting, even on the cloudiest days.

The project achieved a significant milestone when it sold in August 2022, for the highest price for a residential home in its suburb. The Rita Court Project stands as a testament to our commitment to delivering beautiful, functional, and high-quality homes, even under tight deadlines, perfectly suiting the family's needs and lifestyle.

Completed 2016.
